This race is an adrenaline-filled experience for all Pathfinders! Pre-built soap box cars representing Pathfinder Clubs from around the Pacific Union will be racing all week. Stop by, check out the cars, cheer for your favorite and share in the excitement. First, Second and Third Place Trophies will be given in 3 categories: CREATIVITY, ORIGINALITY AND SPEED. INFORMATION AND SPECS:
- Creativity: We will be looking for creativity in your soap box vehicle that represents your club.
- Originality: We want each club to be original in the design of the soap box car. You will be able to buy parts, however; we do not want you to just buy a soap box derby car.
- Steering wheel: The vehicle must have a functioning steering wheel in order to control the vehicle.
- Dimensions: Maximum Width of 3ft by 6ft of length
- Brakes: The vehicle must have functioning brakes for proper safety
- Wheels: a. Must be Air Filled for Desert Terrain b. Keep in Mind Safety when selecting the wheels i. Built for Speed ii. Provide Balance & Stability iii. Secure and Aligned iv. Tire Type Optional
- Weight: Maximum weight is 300lb with driver
- Safety: For Protection, the driver must wear: a. Closed helmet: must fully cover head and face. i. Bicycle helmets will not be permitted b. Closed toe shoes c. Knee Pads and Elbow Pads d. Gloves: Driving gloves that have wrist guards and hand protection e. Parental Consent: The driver must have a parent or guardian sign for driving permission in the race. Note: If any of the Protection requirements listed above are not met, the driver will not be able to participate in the race.
- Please be respectful to everyone, we will not allow disrespectful behavior of any kind.
- Limit to one car per Pathfinder Club
- Cars must be registered and presented to the Soap Box Derby Staff by 5:00 PM on Wednesday October 5. Racing will begin at 10:00 AM on Thursday morning.
