PATHFINDER HONORS

Pathfinder Honors will be offered in the Daytime Activity Area from 

9:30 am - 12:30 pm and from 2:00 pm - 5:30 pm on Thursday 

and Friday. 

All the Pathfinder Honors are on a first come first serve basis. You can sign up Thursday morning at the Honor site.

LIST OF HONORS AND SPONSORS

ARIZONA CONFERENCE

CACTI - 1

Everyone has seen the famous saguaro cactus as shown on this honor's patch. But there are many other kinds of cacti! Get familiar with them! Some even produce edible fruit!

Para poder completar el honor cada Conquistador deberá llevar ya sea en su celular, ó impresas a color 20 fotos de insectos debidamente etiquetadas con el nombre del insecto en la foto.


CENTRAL CALIFORNIA CONFERENCE

MUSIC

Play or sing a scale and know its composition, Write a scale in both treble and bass clef, Know a half-tone, a whole tone, a third, a fifth, and an octave. These are only a few of the requirements for the music honor. 

NUTRITION

Everyone knows they should eat right so they can stay healthy, but many people have no idea what that means. This honor explains it all. Since your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 6:19) it is your duty to know how to care for it.

PHYSICS

What is the scientific method? How can the scientific method be used to study the Bible? What is a controlled experiment? In this honor you will explore these questions and many more.

HAM RADIO

To get the Ham Radio Honor, Pathfinders need to pass the Technician Class FCC Amateur Radio License exam with the $15.00 testing fee.  This will be a fun, enjoyable hands-on crash course to prepare the Pathfinder for the exam.  If time permits, we will be holding the FCC exam/testing on Friday at 3:00 pm for those who are interested and ready.

LAUNDERING HONOR

The Laundering Honor is a component of the Homemaker Master Award. Learn the basics of laundering.

HEART & CIRCULATION

In this honor you will learn the basic function of the following parts of the circulatory system: heart, blood vessels, blood, and lungs; amd the major difference between arteries and veins among other things.

HAWAII CONFERENCE

SHARKS

Learn about the shark daily feeding schedule and habits in captivity Learn about sharks and identify how sharks hurt and benefit humans. Create a game that assists others in learning about sharks. You may model the game after popular card or board games. 

HULA DEMONSTRATION

Learn the history of the Hula tradition and the importance it has in the culture. Practice some of the Hula moves in an educational and fun way.


NEVADA-UTAH CONFERENCE

LASHING

Lashing is a method used to secure two things (often poles or pole-like items) together. A knowledge of lashing requires an understanding of two terms: wrapping and frapping. 

ENDANGERED SPECIES

Learn about the different species that have been designated as endangered and what is being done to preserve these species.

BUBBLES

Bubbles are not only filled with whimsy - they are also filled with wonder! Marvel at the science behind bubble formation as you explore the hydrophobic and hydrophilic properties of the molecules involved in bubble formation. Then return to the whimsy as you make huge bubbles!

ANIMAL TRACKING

Maybe you've seen people on TV "track" humans through the woods by following invisible clues. It's a lot harder than TV makes it look! With this honor you can learn to see and interpret sign left by wildlife (and by humans), and make a collection of plaster castings of animal tracks. Open your eyes to another world!

GLASS PAINTING

Discover how to paint various different designs. In this honor you will make and display a glass painting for each of the following designs: animal, flower, and landscape or seascape.

ORIGAMI

Origami is the craft of folding paper to make models of animals, people, and objects. In this honor you will learn how to make several models.


NORTHERN CALIFORNIA CONFERENCE

GOLD PROSPECTING

Gold panning, or simply panning, is a form of placer mining and traditional mining that extracts gold from a placer deposit using a pan. The process is one of the simplest ways to extract gold, and is popular with geology enthusiasts especially because of its low cost and relative simplicity.

PIN TRADING

Trade pins with at least five people you don’t know at a venue or event where pin trading takes place, using the “Fun, Fair, Friendly” principles of etiquette. Share with someone else or in a group any interesting stories or people you met while trading pins.

AFRICAN LORE

In this class, you will gain an understanding of the culture, food, dress, and religion of African tribe

ADINKRA

The Adinkra Honor is a British Union Conference Honour about the Adinkra symbols that express various themes that relate to the history, beliefs and philosophy of the Asante.  The patches for this honor will be available for sale upon the completion of the requirements.  The cost per patch is $1.25.  This honor can be done separately or in combination with the African Lore honor that is also being presented.

CHOCOLATE

This is a AY Honor that comes all the way from the British Union in Europe. It is not a North American Division Honor however it is still a fun honor to get.

BRAIDING

You've heard of braiding, but do you know how to do it? Make a lanyard and other projects to earn this honor as you learn these skills. Then see what you can do with it!

TRAVEL

In this class, you will create a simple 7-day trip plan for a “family vacation.” As part of your plan, you will create a 7-day trip planner and include:

a. Details on one historic place to visit

b. Details on two natural sites to visit

c. Details on one recreational site to visit

PUPPETRY

Create puppets, scripts and creative "puppet voices" as a way to do ministry to kids or other groups. 


SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CONFERENCE

CURRENCY

Pocket change has history and meaning far beyond its spending value! Grab your spare change, convert your bills to coins at the grocery, and start earning the currency honor! You might be a Numismatist in the making!

BIBLE MARKING

If you've ever needed "just the right Bible text" for a devotional experience or doctrinal Bible study (or to explain one of your beliefs to a friend), then marking your Bible for devotional and doctrinal study could be just the answer. Its a fun group activity that provides you with a hands-on resource for sharing your faith... forever!

SCRAPBOOKING

REQUIRED SURVEY

Scrapbooking is a fun and creative crafting activity to document precious memories, keep souvenirs and mementos, and channel your inner artist. Even in our fast-paced digital world, creating your own personalized scrapbook album remains a popular way of preserving memories. 

VOLCANOES

In this honor you will learn all about volcanos, lava, magma and related geological phenomena. 

JUDGES OF ISRAEL

What do a left-handed man, a warrior woman, and the strongest man to ever live have in common? They're all judges of Israel, and you're just getting started in your discovery of how God used the judges during a tumultuous time in Israel's history to demonstrate His love and grace towards his people. What lessons can you extract while earning this honor that could change your spiritual experience forever?


SOUTHEASTERN CALIFORNIA CONFERENCE

FIRE BUILDING & CAMP COOKERY

Become a wilderness chef and master of fire! This honor will teach you how to lay all kinds of fires and light them even in the rain. Once you have a fire, you can use it to cook a delicious meal!

ULTIMATE DISK

In this honor you will learn the basic rules and play Pathfinder pick-up games. You will also be able to demonstrate reasonable understanding of disk handling and throwing, catching, scoring, and defending.

PLASTER CRAFT

Plastercraft is a non fired way to paint items that are going to be ornamental. Meaning not for use with food or water and for indoor placement. Using acrylic paints and spray or brush-on glazing at the end for a finished look.

DISASTER MINISTRIES

Sometimes the worst happens, and someone your age loses their home and everything they own. This honor helps prepare you to respond in a Christ-like, meaningful, responsible way that could help them feel loved in the midst of their loss.

FLAGS

Flags are a huge part of club, church, and community events. As you earn this honor, you'll learn how to be an informed participant who knows the value of each flag you use. Hey, you might even get to be part of a color guard or flag raising ceremony while earning it!

DINOSAURS

In this honor you will learn about dinosaurs focusing on the following: Sauropods, Theropods, Ceratopsians, Ankylosaurs, Plesiosaurs, Pterosaurs

RIVERS & STREAMS

In this honor you will learn about Rivers and Streams. Some of the requirements include: explain three differences in the water at the head and at the mouth of a river. Give examples of some different species found in each place.

Identify on a map the main rivers on your continent. Know at least 5 of their explorers. Read a story about one of the explorers.

RED ALERT

Learn how to yourself safe in an emergency, and how to prevent some emergencies from happening in the first place!
